Harleen : Book One - Review

Stjepan Šejić sets out to give us a Year One-style Harley Quinn story. We learn a tremendous amount about Harley in this first book. We are treated to a lot of Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a very welcome departure from the normal insane Harley Quinn we see nowadays. It’s often mentioned as a throwaway line that she used to be a doctor, so rarely do we get to see her engaged in these skills. From the very first page, we are brought into her POV and we are keyed into how this is a story about her and the Joker.

Batman : Last Knight on Earth - Book Two - Review

Book Two opens up presumably with a flashback sequence, with Batman encountering Joe Chill. Only a couple of pages are spent here before a segue back into the “current” timeline, aka the future. With these concurrent tales playing out in Book One and Book Two, I am already pondering if everything we are reading about the future is some sort of fever dream that Bruce is having. Only time will tell with the release of Book Three. I hope we get some satisfying answers.

Harley and Ivy #1 - Review kevin Mon, 10/07/2019 - 12:10

This title picks up after the events of Heroes in Crisis, though reading HiC is not required to understand this book, as Jody Houser makes sure to succinctly recap those events. That said, I think there is a benefit in having the foreknowledge of HiC before jumping into this. Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy is a limited six issue series and presumably will revolve around Poison Ivy and what may or may not be a new level setting for the character.
